3 Stages of Dog Pregnancy
- Dogs will pass through 3 stages of pregnancy. In the first stage, the Embryos will travel to the Uterine hole, and after a week they are embedded in the uterine. During this time, the dog will experience an increased appetite, morning sickness, nipple enlargement, and a decrease in physical activities.
- In the second stage, the eyelids, toes, and claws are formed, and are formed by week 5. Week 7, X-rays are able to detect how many pups are coming into conception. In this stage, you will see, a 20-50% weight gain, increased appetite, increased urination, and some visible puppy movement.
- Alas, the third stage. Week 8 and the puppies are beginning to move into a whelping position. During this time, this is slight appetite loss, panting, pacing, shivering, and restless behavior. It is essential that the bitch is watched after and cared for during this time. Birth is right around the corner!
